    King Island Birds

Tasmania has many bird species that are endemic and can be found only in Tasmania and it’s interesting to note that this little island has many of them. From a bird lover’s point of view its size is a blessing because at the last count 188 different species and sub species could be found on tiny King Island. The property surrounding this accommodation has throughtout the year counted 37 different species. The island lies about 90 kms north of mainland Tasmania and is[…]

    King Island Scenery

While you’re staying in Naracoopa on King Island’s east coast take time for a relaxing stroll and soak in some of the ambience and beautiful scenery. Some of what you can see are: Spectacular views of Sea Elephant Bay and Councilor Island with miles of deserted sandy beaches. Watch for whales and Dolphins. Naracoopa’s ancient jetty, once marked for removal but has now been saved thanks to the actions of[…]

Getting There / King Island Accommodation

Getting to your King Island Accommodation

King Island is in Bass Strait between Victoria and Tasmania. The only method of transport to the island is by air, a 45 minute flight.

Your accommodation at Naracoopa is situated on the protected East Coast of King Island, away from the prevailing westerlies, it’s about a 15 minute drive on quiet country roads from the airport and the main town of Currie. Although this small island is only a dot on the map it’s still 65kms long x 25kms wide – that’s a lot of walking! We highly recommend a Rental Car, there is no public transport or taxis.

Your Hosts / King Island Accommodation Cottages introduces you to –

We look forward to meeting you, we’re pretty easy to get along with and more than happy to offer local advice on what to see, where to go and where to eat. This accommodation on the East Coast is centrally located on King Island so taking your day trips from here is ideal; also being on this side keeps us protected from the prevailing Westerlies. We want you to experience the island in its natural beauty and laid back lifestyle. This property would probably have the best location of anywhere on the island so come and book with us, you won’t regret it.

Thank you John & Rhonda for your wonderful hospitality and the care you put into these cottages. It is exactly a Slice of Paradise and we couldn’t have chosen better! We hope to return and you’ll hear from us again. Stuart & Emily Mills – Surrey Hills
